Ledenica Dol is slowly turning into a Jamona big cave

When Bogomir Remškar ended his vacation we resumed the explorations in the Ice Cave Dol above Col. The way that leads to the cave is momentarily not available, due to some extensive woodcutting in the near dolina. This time we walked to the entrance of the cave from the parking for BG1. The descent to the fossile tunnels and the placement of the equipment near the squeeze took about an hour. Here we split in two teams: one begun the widening of the squeeze, the other continued the explorations in one of the many abysses...

The Ice cave Dol has a sister too 16-07-2007

Today we went widening two odious squeezes in the Ice cave Dol. When we have done our duties, we begun digging a fissure with a strong air flow in the adiacent dolina. It seems that the small hole already widens after only a meter. I think that Bela Griža 1 will have another entrance. In the next exploration we will already be able to do some progress in the new gallery or cave.Widening fissures Stojan and Claudio

Succesful digging of a small hole on Stržen near Račice. 6-07-2007

We opened the squeeze on the mount Stržen; after an hour of digging the initially small hole was ready to be explored. Stojan was prepared and descended the pit.We didn t have enough rope, as we have not thought we would be able to widen the squeeze. After a couple of meters descent Stojan was stopped by the knot, there were a couple of meters left to the bottom of the pit. A bigger room can be seen, but it s hard to tell if further progression is possible. We ll continue the exploration next week.Digging, Stojan and Claudio

Some new caves on Stržen

We returned on mount Stržen near Račice. We found a couple of new holes, went to pay a visit to an old friend of ours, measured it and took some photos, explored it a little more and found a continuation. We took some photos of entrances of already surveyed caves.Stojan and Claudio

The Ice cave Dol - fossile galleries. 27-06-2007

We've continued the explorations in the Ice cave Dol. We've split in two teams, Bogomir and Klemen started the exploration of a promising pit with larger dimensions, Stojan, Robert and me prepared some passages in the cave and continued the research down the meander. Aftere three smaller grades we were stopped by a breakdown. We started digging and the removal of bigger stone blocks, widened the vertical squeeze and found ourselves above a bigger pit. When we reached the bottom of the pit we recognized quickly that the cave made it to a major breaktrough. In front of us there was a big horizontal fossile gallery, pits, meanders... We walked quickly through the fossile gallery, until another breakdown stopped us again, to continue we'll have to widen a shorter squeezing, from which we were able to feel a strong air stream. We took a quick glance over the other galleries and pits. The first team did not have the same luck, the pit ends in breakdown rocks. Caving: Bogomir, Robert, Klemen, Stojan and Claudio

The Ice cave Dol above Col. 18-06-2007

We returned in the Ice Cave, to continue the exploration of the meander that we widened last week. This time our group was larger, but the progression to the beginning of the abyss was still slow, the passage in the meander remains very uncomfortable. We explored the cave till there was not enough rope, in the gallery you can feel a strong air flow, the cave widens more and more and the abysses are deeper. We've measured the polygon, the cave is now 150 meters long and 60 meters deep.
Caving: Bogomir, Robert, Robin and Klemen from the club of Ajdovščina, with Stojan and Claudio.

The Ice cave Dol above Col. 11-06-2007

This time it all went as expected, we've begun the widening and after an hour of work we found ourselves in front of an abyss. Sadly we had no equipment for further progression. This time the air flow was particularly strong. We didn't have some brighter lights to be able to look in the new widening, it wasn't possible to climb the grade either. We'll continue the exploration next monday. Claudio and Stojan.

Today we've finished the exploration of the cave, we've surveyed it and removed the equipment. We've climbed to the window and found a new, thirty meters long gallery. The cave is fifty meters deep and 150 meters long. Deep in the cave we've found the "Penicillin".
Happily concluded the exploration: Stojan and Claudio.

The Gluščeva Jama is not ended yet 31-05-2007

Today we've continued the explorations in the Gluščeva jama above Botazzo in the Rosandra Valley. The cave, or better, the meander has now reached an end. The next time we'll climb a ten meters high grade until we'll reached a window, we have already seen a prosecution. Caving: Stojan and Claudio

The ice cave in Dol ...the widening of the meander continues. 21-05-2007

We've continued the widening of the meander, it curves a lot, so that the progression is made easier. No end of narrowing in sight. There's still a lot of work that needs to be done.

Fighting against the cold wind: Stojan and Claudio.

A new passage found in the Gluščeva Jama. 18-05-2007

After a long period of interruption, we resumed the explorations in the Gluščeva Jama, that is located on the border between the lands of Boljunec and Beka. After a climb of a 12 meters high meander we have found a window and after a couple of meters lead we found ourselves in front of a deep abyss. At the bottom the cave splits in two leads, one was explored for some 50 meters, till a breathing crack with a great eco. The gallery has a form of a meander and you can traverse it in free climbing. The other begins with a grade of 5 meters, that we were not able to climb yet.
We have reached a deep of 70 meters, it's encouraging to see that there's still no end in sight...

Happy for the new finding: Stojan and Claudio
